Ingredients

Main Ingredients:
  • 1 pound ribeye steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 hoagie rolls or sub rolls
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2–3 jalapeños, sliced
  • 4 slices white American cheese or provolone
  • 2 tablespoons butter or oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
Optional Ingredients:
  • Garlic butter:
  • Pepper jack cheese
  • Hot sauce
  • Mayonnaise

Equipment

  • Large skillet or griddle
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Spatula
  • Tongs
  • Butter knife
  • Serving plate

Method

  1. Step 1 – Prepare the Steak: Place the ribeye steak in the freezer for about 20 minutes so it becomes easier to slice. Slice the steak in very thin stripes.
  2. Step 2 – Slice the Vegetables: Cut the onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, and jalapeños into thin slices.
  3. Step 3 – Cook the Vegetables: Heat one tablespoon of butter or oil in a skillet. Add the vegetables and cook for about 4–5 minutes until they soften and become slightly golden.
  4. Step 4 – Cook the Steak: Add some oil to the skillet. Cook the steak strips on high heat for 2–3 minutes, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  5. Step 5 – Combine Everything: Combine everything, cooked veggies and steak in the skillet.
  6. Step 6 – Melt the Cheese: Place cheese slices over the steak mixture and allow them to melt.
  7. Step 7 – Toast the Bread: Slice the hoagie rolls and lightly toast them with butter.
  8. Step 8 – Assemble the Sandwich: Fill the toasted bread with the cheesy steak mixture and allow a small amount of cooking juices to drizzle into the bread.
  9. Step 9 – Serve and Enjoy: Serve the sandwich hot with fries, chips, or your favorite side.

Notes

  • Use ribeye steak for the most tender result.
  • Toast the bread lightly to prevent it from getting soggy.

  • Adjust the number of jalapeños depending on your spice preference.
  • Serve immediately while the cheese is melted and the steak is hot.
