Jersey Mike’s Pepper Relish Recipe

A sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy pepper relish inspired by the famous sub topping. Perfect for sandwiches, burgers, and wraps.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups red bell peppers, finely chopped
  • 1 cup green bell peppers, finely chopped
  • 2 to 3 jalapeños or serrano peppers
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Optional garlic or onion

  • Medium saucepan

  • Airtight glass jar

Method
 

  1. Wash and finely chop all peppers
  2. Add peppers to a saucepan
  3. Pour in vinegar, sugar, and salt
  4. Mix well and simmer on low heat for 10 to 15 minutes
  5. Stir occasionally and avoid overcooking
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed
  7. Cool completely and store in a jar
  8. Refrigerate before serving

Notes

  • Let the relish rest overnight for best flavor
  • Do not over-blend, texture should stay slightly chunky
  • Adjust spice level by controlling hot peppers

  • Keep relish in fridge for up to 2 weeks for best use
  • Works great beyond sandwiches, try it with grilled dishes
