Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients:
  • 1 ½ lbs pork shoulder or pork stew meat, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for browning the pork)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 medium carrots, sliced
  • 2 celery stalks, sliced
  • 3 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup cabbage, shredded (optional but traditional)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 cups chicken broth (or pork broth for deeper flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce (optional for richness)
Optional Add-Ins (Pick Any):
  • 1 cup corn kernels (fresh, canned, or frozen)
  • 1 cup green beans, chopped
  • ½ cup peas
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes (for heat)

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Brown the pork until lightly golden.
  2. Add onions, garlic, and veggies; sauté until fragrant.
  3. Pour in broth and seasonings.
  4. Simmer until the pork becomes tender.
  5. Adjust salt, add herbs, and serve warm.

Notes

  • For a thicker soup, mash a few cooked potatoes into the broth.
