  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp oil or lard
  • ½ tsp salt
For the Filling:
  • 300 g pork belly (or chicken/beef substitute)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Shaoxing wine (or rice vinegar)
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp oil for searing
  • Optional: chopped cilantro, green onions for garnish

Method
 

  1. Make the Dough: Combine flour, salt, and water. Knead until smooth. Let rest for 30 minutes.
  2. Roll and Layer: Roll the dough flat, brush with oil, roll into a log, then coil and flatten again.
  3. Cook the Bread: Pan-fry each round on medium heat for 4–5 minutes per side until golden and crisp.
  4. Prepare the Filling: Sear pork in oil, add sauces and simmer until tender and juicy.
  5. Assemble: Slice the bread and fill with meat and garnishes. Serve hot!
